WORLD A · REALM 04 ONTOLOGY

Integration: Hyderabad

Razakar Militia Issue · Operation Polo (Police Action) · Nizam's Surrender

Securing the Heart of the Deccan (1947–1948)

Spanning 82,698 square miles in the very center of the Indian peninsula with a population of 16 million (85% Hindu), Hyderabad was the largest and wealthiest princely state. When Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan sought sovereign independence and Qasim Razvi's fanatic **Razakar militia** unleashed terror across the Deccan and Indian railway corridors, Sardar Patel launched **Operation Polo** (13–17 September 1948)—a decisive 109-hour Police Action that ended the Nizam's defiance and unified peninsular India.

SUB-WORLD IV — HISTORICAL RECKONING & 1956 TRIFURCATION

MICRO-REALMS 04.34 – 04.36

Core Distinctions (High-Yield)

Standstill Agreement (Nov 1947) vs. Instrument of Accession

Unlike other princes who signed both simultaneously, the Nizam signed only a 1-year Standstill Agreement on Nov 29, 1947 while refusing the Instrument of Accession. Hyderabad formally acceded via the Nizam's November 23, 1949 Firman accepting the Indian Constitution.

Razakar Militia vs. Hyderabad State Forces

The Razakars (led by Qasim Razvi) were the fanatical paramilitary wing of the MIM party that terrorized civilians and controlled PM Mir Laik Ali, whereas the Hyderabad State Forces (commanded by Maj. Gen. El Edroos) were the regular army that formally surrendered at Secunderabad on Sept 18, 1948.

State Congress Satyagraha vs. Telangana Peasant Armed Struggle

The Hyderabad State Congress (led by Swami Ramananda Tirtha) waged a non-violent struggle for accession to India and responsible government, whereas the Telangana Peasant Struggle (led by Communist *dalams*) waged an armed agrarian guerrilla war against feudal *Doras* that continued until October 1951.

Ontological Progression

With Kathiawar and the Deccan consolidated, our World A integration trajectory ascends to the northernmost frontier of the Republic: the complex accession, tribal invasion, and constitutional special status of **Jammu & Kashmir**.
