  • Contains Dharmashastras (codes of law and conduct).
MICRO-REALM 03

The Vedic Religion

  • Centered around complex fire sacrifices (Yajna) performed by Brahmin priests.
  • Primary deities represented natural forces: Agni (Fire), Indra (Thunder/War), Soma (Plant/Moon).
  • No temples or permanent idols were used.
MICRO-REALM 04

The Puranic Shift

  • Post-Vedic era saw a shift from fire rituals to deity worship (Murti Puja).
  • The rise of the Trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva) and Tridevi (Saraswati, Lakshmi, Parvati).
  • Religion became more accessible through stories (Puranas) rather than strict Sanskrit rituals.
MICRO-REALM 05

Vaishnavism

  • Worship of Vishnu as the Supreme Preserver of the universe.
  • Central theology revolves around his ten Avatars (incarnations), most notably Rama and Krishna.
  • Emphasizes Bhakti (loving devotion) as the path to salvation.
MICRO-REALM 06

Shaivism

  • Often represented in an aniconic form, the Shiva Lingam.
  • Encompasses asceticism, yoga, and esoteric Tantric practices.
MICRO-REALM 07

Shaktism

  • Worship of the Divine Mother (Devi/Shakti) as the absolute, active cosmic energy.
  • Recognizes that without Shakti, Shiva is inert.
  • Manifests in gentle forms (Parvati) and fierce forms (Durga, Kali).
MICRO-REALM 08

Smartism

  • Founded by Adi Shankaracharya (8th century CE).
  • Follows the Panchayatana Puja: worship of five deities (Shiva, Vishnu, Devi, Surya, Ganesha) equally.
  • Treats all deities as equal manifestations of the singular formless Brahman.
MICRO-REALM 09

Temple Traditions

  • Governed by the Agamas and Vastu Shastra (manuals on architecture and idol installation).
  • The temple represents the body of God; the inner sanctum is the Garbhagriha (womb chamber).
  • Main architectural styles: Nagara (North) and Dravida (South).
MICRO-REALM 10

Puja & Bhakti

  • Puja replaces Vedic Yajna. It is the act of showing reverence to a god through invocations, prayers, songs, and rituals.
  • Involves offering light (Aarti), flowers, water, and food (Prasad).
  • Emphasizes a personal, emotional connection (Bhakti) with the divine.
MICRO-REALM 11

Dharma & Samsara

  • Dharma: Cosmic law, duty, and righteous conduct supporting the universe.

  • Samsara: The continuous, binding cycle of birth, death, and reincarnation.
MICRO-REALM 12
