We do not read and write poetry because it is cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with [ passion ].
The Teacher is the original Search Engine. Long before the silicon chip, there was the [ spark ] of the mentor. They do not merely retrieve data; they curate the soul. In an age of infinite information, wisdom remains scarce. The teacher stands at the front of the room not to dictate, but to invite you to stand on your desk and look at the world from a different angle.
Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But [ poetry ], beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To the captains of our classrooms, who guide us through the fog of adolescence into the clarity of thought: we salute you.
