SSC SELECTION POST — PHASE XIV / 2026
SSCMATRIC10+2GRADUATEGROUP BGROUP CSPECIALIST RECRUITMENT
There is no “Selection Post job.” There are hundreds of individual doors hiding behind one recruitment examination.
Your qualification is the key. The vacancy decides which door exists.
The Architecture of the Gate
WHAT IS SSC SELECTION POST?
What is SSC Selection Post?
A catalogue of specific vacancies for specialized Group B and Group C positions across government departments, not a single standardized career stream.
What does 'Phase' mean?
SSC releases these aggregated vacancies in batches or "Phases" (e.g., Phase XIV in 2026).
Who conducts it?
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
Is it one government service?
No. It is hundreds of different posts grouped under one examination umbrella for administrative convenience.
Which qualifications are accepted?
Matriculation (10th), Higher Secondary (12th), and Graduation/Above. Specific technical or experience requirements often apply depending on the post.
Which departments recruit?
Various Central Government ministries, departments, attached offices, and subordinate offices that require specialized staff not covered by CGL or CHSL.
The Three Qualification Gates
WHICH LEVEL APPLIES TO YOU?
MATRICULATION
10th Level
Posts whose notified educational requirement is at the matriculation level (e.g., Attendants, specialized support staff).
HIGHER SECONDARY
10+2 Level
Posts requiring Class XII or equivalent qualifications, often with specific subject combinations (e.g., Science for lab roles).
GRADUATION
Degree Level
Posts requiring a bachelor's degree, frequently demanding a specific subject, technical discipline, or prior experience.

The Power of the Post Code
Every Selection Post is assigned a unique alphanumeric identifier consisting of the Region Code, Post Number, and Year (e.g., CR10126). This code disambiguates similarly named posts across different departments. It is the absolute key to finding your exact eligibility, age limit, pay scale, and vacancy count in the official notification.

Not Every Degree is the Same
A vacancy may ask for a "Bachelor's Degree", or a "Bachelor's Degree in a specific discipline", or a "Diploma", or "10+2 with a specific subject", or even a "Degree + Experience".
Graduation-level does not mean "any graduate."
The Rules of the Gate
POST-SPECIFIC NOTIFICATION RULES APPLY
Age Limits
THERE IS NO UNIVERSAL AGE LIMIT
The official notice assigns different age limits to different posts (e.g., 18–27 for some, 18–30 for specialized JE posts). Always verify by Post Code.
Pay Levels
SALARY DEPENDS ON THE POST
Group B and Group C posts span multiple pay scales. The notification explicitly defines the Pay Level for each individual vacancy.
The Examination
COMPUTER BASED EXAM BY LEVEL
Exams are conducted at Matriculation, Higher Secondary, and Graduation levels. Subjects generally include Intelligence, Awareness, Quant, and English, plus post-specific subjects if notified.
Skill Tests
POST-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Competition & Cutoffs
The Competition Room
Not every Selection Post has the same applicant pool. A highly specialized post will have vastly different competition metrics than a general clerical post.
Track Competition by Post Code, not just overall applications.
The Cut-Off Room
Because the exam levels and post requirements differ, cut-offs are hyper-specific. Do not search for a generic "Selection Post cutoff."
Year → Region → Post Code → Level → Category → Cutoff
The Cabinet of Lost Professions
THE JOBS YOU DIDN'T KNOW EXISTED
Laboratory Attendant Quality Assurance JE Computor Information Assistant Store Keeper Vocational Instructor Agricultural Specialist
THERE IS NO SINGLE LADDER.
Unlike CHSL or CGL, you cannot map one standard promotion path for a Selection Post. Progression depends entirely on the specific post and the department's internal rules.
One post leads to a Technical Career Another to an Administrative Support Career Another to a Laboratory Career
Selection Post vs. Other Gates
VS. CHSL
CHSL is a recurring standardized examination for defined clerical/data-entry posts. Selection Post is a vacancy catalogue with different, often specialized posts.
VS. CGL
CGL is a broad graduate-level standardized recruitment into a defined family of Central services. Selection Post is individual vacancy-specific recruitment.
VS. JE
JE is a dedicated technical examination for Junior Engineer roles. Selection Post may contain individual technical vacancies among many unrelated specialist posts.
VS. DIRECT RECRUITMENT
Selection Post is SSC-mediated recruitment for vacancies reported to them. Other recruitments may be conducted independently directly by the departments.

The question is "Which piece of the State needs someone with my particular skill?"
