JRF
Junior Research Fellowship. Financial support for eligible research activity and doctoral studies, awarded to the top percentile of qualifiers.
Assistant Professor
Academic recruitment eligibility, subject to the rules, vacancies, and interview processes of the recruiting university or state institution.
PhD Admission
NET can function as a PhD entrance mechanism in place of a university's own test (70% NET + 30% Interview weightage).

ELIGIBILITY ≠ RECRUITMENT
Qualifying NET establishes baseline academic eligibility to teach. However, actual appointment depends entirely on university vacancies, state recruitment rules, API (Academic Performance Indicator) scores, and institutional interview boards. NET does not guarantee a job.

JRF Qualification
Only the top percentile of NET qualifiers are awarded JRF. It carries strict age limits (unlike AP eligibility) determined by the current notification.

Yes, under Cat 2/3 rules.
The Age Chamber
JRF: Strict upper age limit applies (with category relaxations) according to the current notification.
Assistant Professor: No equivalent upper-age restriction for appearing under the general framework.
The Certificate Archive
E-Certificate: Issued for AP eligibility or PhD entry.
JRF Award Letter: A separate document required to activate fellowship funding. Don't confuse the scorecard with the award.
