Seeing What a Signal is Made Of

The Unseen Architecture of Oscillation

A signal viewed through the lens of time is merely a record of changing amplitude. But by shifting our perspective, we discover that every signal is actually a symphony of pure, eternal oscillations. Realm 03 teaches you to speak the language of Frequency. Here, we decompose signals into Sinusoids and Complex Exponentials, visualize their hidden DNA through Spectral Lines, and use Filters to carve away the frequencies we do not want.

In Realm 02, we asked how a system modifies a signal. Here, we learned what happens to the frequencies inside that signal. We observed that an LTI system alters only the magnitude and phase of a pure sinusoid, leaving its frequency untouched. This powerful realization demands a new mathematics to break any arbitrary signal down into those very sinusoids. You are now ready for Realm 04: Fourier's World.
